This site is no longer maintained, which means that over time, external links will stop working and won’t be fixed.  Ideas about living with and through menopause don’t change fast but specific advice on remedies and medicines can  -  so it is important that you check elsewhere for recent research on anything you are considering taking.

Do you really have a weight problem?

If you want to work out your own Body Mass Index, the formula is:

Weight in kilograms
_____________________________

Height in metres x height in metres

So, for example, if your current weight is 10 stone 10 lbs (150 lbs) or 68 kilos, and you are 5ft 6 ins, or 1.67 metres, the sum works out:

68
_____________________________

1.67 x 1.67

=  24.38

24.38 is a BMI just within Government recommendations based on heart disease, and quite close to the marker figure used in the osteoporosis research.
