The British Menopause Society is a professional organisation, and their site is aimed at clinicians with a particular interest in the menopause. Their most recent, well referenced, consensus statement on the implications of recent research on HRT was posted in June 2004, and the site regualrly features academic critiques of research and policy recommendations.

The
Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)
and the Committee on Safety of Medicines (CSM) have prepared an extended
summary, aimed at patients, of ‘what is currently known about
the risks and benefits of HRT’ dated December 2003. This covers
their view of the implications of the research results from the US Women’s
Health Initiative and UK Million Women studies.

Omni Gives
lists of quality medical sites on the Internet, with an emphasis on UK
sites. Includes links to medical journals publishing articles
of
interest on the menopause, for example the British
Medical Journal collection,
which includes key articles on the US HRT trials halted in 2002.
MEDLINEplus is produced from the US National Library
of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. It both provides information
aimed at the general public and a way into searching the major medical
database MEDLINE for research articles.
The
UK Million Women Study site includes information for participants
and summaries of papers published by the team.
The US Women’s Health Initiative has two sites:

- a more
academic site with
links to papers published by the team.
